Having been locked down and under house arrest for so long, I'd been experimenting with my live guitar sound. Inspired as much as anything else by the likes of Joff Oddie of Wolf Alice and 'Planet Hunter' in particular - and also the sublime work of Andy Summers of The Police on 'Secret Journey', I'd looked at guitar synth pedals. Initially I went for the Electro-Harmonix Hog 2, but that started playing up so I ordered a Boss SY-1 pedal from Andertons in Guildford. It took about 3 months to come and then was faulty so another 2 months passed before a replacement arrived. The result was the sound on this very different version of the song 'You Are The Sun'. It's a live tour de force with the full band, but this takes it to pastures new, with a more reflective feel.
Keen observers will easily notice the odd live fluff and the fact that I can't remember my own lyrics, but I'd encourage you to check out the full band version on the album. A new album is currently in production, which is really exciting stuff, so keep watching out for news from Tim Clayton & The Higher Lovers as the year progresses and (hopefully) we start getting our lives back from this awful pandemic and those who appear to be drunk on power.
