As I say in the intro to the latest video, which is now available here, it's often said that the sign of a good song is when it works with just a solo voice and an acoustic guitar. Well, even since completing the video and uploading it to the site, I have gained more evidence of the truth of that proposition.
'Spoke' is a song written with the other Sweet Machine guys during lockdown. It is original synthpop at its best and has been going down really well with audiences at Sweet Machine gigs in London, Brighton and Somerset. It got its solo acoustic debut in Glastonbury last night with the Tim Clayton & The Higher Lovers' treatment. Once again, the song went down really well and other performers as well as audience members remarked upon it.
The synthpop version will be available on Sweet Machine's new album which is to be released in the early Autumn - and with new Tim Clayton & the Higher Lovers' material imminent, this is the best opportunity to give it an initial online airing.
