More happy news for a lovely Spring day at the start of the Easter weekend. The anthem of hope, the title and closing track from the album 'Higher Lovers', has been accepted onto the country's music map for the pandemic as curated by A Song For Us.
A Song For Us is an organisation which was set up to provide a soundtrack for the pandemic, initially requesting submissions from leading songwriters and performers but then throwing open the doors to songwriters and performers of all persuasions. The aim is to show how artists and communities all over the country have faced the challenges provided by the pandemic and by successive lockdowns. The emphasis was to be on positive outcomes.
I chose 'Higher Lovers' for this as it is essentially a song of hope and one which provides courage to those who are seeking to take first, scary steps on new paths, having struggled for various reasons in the past. And it ends in a big singalong chorus (or three), so what's not to like.
Anyway, we're all delighted that the submission was accepted. We're in the company of some amazing artists and your time would be well spent dipping into the map and the songs which can help you find a way out into the future through inspiration.
