One of the real joys of setting up Higher Lovers has been the delights of working with some wonderfully talented people - especially these two.
ALEJANDRA RESTREPPO (left) is a sultry Columbian singer songwriter. Her voice has the flavour of smooth, seductive chocolate and, singing in her native Spanish, as I have said to her many times before, she could make her shopping list sound sexy. Her songs evoke the glory of nature, are thoughtful gifts to friends and she lights up every room she walks into and sings out from. Her single, 'El Rio' is available on all the usual streaming outlets. I guarantee, listening to it will take you far away and make you smile.
KATRINA SWIFT (right) hails from New England, although she has spent recent times in Bath. Quite simply she has the voice that silences a room. A couple of years ago we sang at a Christmas party. For the other performers (including me), conversations continued during our sets. The moment Katrina started singing, all conversations stopped; attention was focussed completely on the angelic voice all around them. Her songs are simply beautiful Americana. Think of Carole King, or Karen Carpenter (2 octaves higher) and you get a flavour of Katrina Swift.
Sadly, although we were able to sing together a few times and they sang with Higher Lovers at the Bath Spa University PRIDE celebrations (pictured), due to scheduling problems we never managed to sing on the album. I am however uniquely privileged to have known them and to count them as friends. You should get to know them too through their music.
